DeviceHive Cloud 101

Whether you want to quickly try DeviceHive tutorial, or have a deep-dive on your local server or machine or want to run it as PaaS or scale out there are ways to do that.

Playground

For testing things, you are welcome to create a playground on our server, this will give you a small instance you can connect and try your Hello World in IoT. To do that, go here: http://playground.devicehive.com, enter your credentials, and we’ll generate an instance. User instance URL, ID and Key to enter into your app, IoT Toolkit or Android Gateway.

Running DeviceHive on your own Machine

Use this docker image to deploy DeviceHive and it’s dependencies to your own machine locally on on the cloud:

docker run -d --name=devicehive -p 8080:80 -p 9001:9001 devicehive/devicehive-standalone

Deploy Using Juju

Create DeviceHive Azure Instance

If you have a Microsoft Azure account or want to create one, you can simply create an instance of DeviceHive from Azure Marketplace: http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/partners/dataart/devicehive-devicehivestandard/

In either case, you’ll need the following in order to connect to your cloud instance from a client app, IoT Toolkit or Gateway:

  • API URL
  • AccessKey
